Climate Spectator

Climate Spectator is a sister site to Business Spectator which covers news and commentary articles about business, investments and the economics of climate change.

I planned, documented and built the entire site, with help from Itomic Web Design who were contracted to design Climate Spectator's look and feel.

I was attracted to this project mainly because the clients were very committed to building a best practice Drupal implementation. In the end, only 2 contributed modules had to be patched (and minor patches at that), and Drupal core was not hacked. To achieve that and accommodate all the client's requirements, while at the same time keeping the site as fast and efficient as possible was the real challenge, and I'm proud of the end result.

Some interesting features of the site that were built especially for this project:

• A 'paywall', which allows users a certain amount of content views before forcing registration. Limited Content Views on drupal.org
• Integration with MailChimp, which allows automated sending of complex campaigns (such was the case with Climate Spectator's daily newsletter). MailChimp Campaign on drupal.org
